Spheres of Influence
Used throughout this website and in the Peace School programme, the term Spheres of Influence denotes the different areas of life with which we interact.
Being a Shalom Activist isn’t something merely for our worklife or our interest areas, it is an understanding and a way of being that affects the whole of our lives. Spheres of influence are the different arenas of life that together constitute the whole of society and creation. We all move in and out of a range of spheres and interact with them in different ways. For example spheres include healthcare, education and the arts; family, community and marriage; ecology, politics and the media; to name just a few. Spheres of Influence encompass every aspect of life.
Peace School aims to facilitate an exploration into what Shalom looks like in all the spheres of life with all who participate playing their part in that exploration. As part of programme participants will be able to contribute to a web-based tool called the 'Tree of Life' that is attempting to map out the spheres of life and provide a place to jointly discover what Shalom looks like in those areas. The 'Tree of Life' is a growing resource, tool and organic zone of interaction examining our values (the roots) and imapact areas/ spheres (the branches).
