Cost for Participants
Please be sure to read the sections on Shalom finances and Costs of running Peace School before reading this section, as it will help make sense of the information below.
As outlined in the Costs of running Peace School section, the predicted cost for running the programme in 2007/8 is £14,910.
We are estimating and hoping that there will be at least 12 participants in the 2007/8 programme year, together with 4 or 5 organisers/facilitators. If numbers are much lower than this it may not be feasible to run the programme. We will also be applying for grants and funding throughout the year to lower the cost to participants, it is hoped that we will be able to secure at least £5200 from these applications.
If we divide the cost of the programme by 12 the average cost per participant, after deducting anticipated grants and donations, is £800. If we all had the same ability to pay this is how much Peace School would cost each person.
Here’s the hard bit (particularly if that sounds reasonable to you).
We don’t necessarily want you to pay £800, we want you to pay what you can, and are willing to. That means if you think you can pay more, we want you to pay more. If you think you need to pay less, we want you to pay what you can afford.
In thinking and praying about how much you are able to contribute towards being part of Peace School, you may also like to think about fundraising towards your costs by asking for support from individuals and organisations. Perhaps firstly decide how much you can afford, then think how much you can fundraise in addition. We can help with fundraising ideas; please do contact us if you would like a fundraising pack.
Once you have decided on what is a fair price for you to pay we would ask that you commit to paying that amount in full so that we can budget appropriately. If we do raise more money through other means during the year (from individual donors and grant giving bodies) we will discuss this together during the residentials and decide together how best to use that money.
Once you have come to a decision about the right amount for you, go to the registration page where you can fill in your details and the amount you are paying. There is also an ‘instalments calculator’ on the registration page so that you can work out how much you will need to pay by deposit and instalments if that is how you chose to pay (for instance if the full amount you chose to pay is £800, the deposit will work out as £250 and the 11 monthly installments at £50 each).
